Sequences – AQA GCSE (8300): Foundation Tier

In this mini-lecture, Professor Keith Ball (University of Warwick) explores sequences, covering Topics A23-A25 in the AQA GCSE (9-1) Mathematics (8500) Specification for Foundation Tier. In the first mini-lecture, we introduce and motivate sequences. In the second mini-lecture, we learn how to generate a sequence (Topic A23). In the third and fourth mini-lecture, we explore some special and famous sequences, such as the Fibonacci sequence (Topic A24). In the fifth mini-lecture, we learn about linear and quadratic sequences (Topic A24). In the sixth mini-lecture, we introduce geometric sequences (Topic A24). In the seventh mini-lecture, we explore how to use formulae to determine the nth term of a linear sequence (Topic A25).

Introduction to Sequences

In this mini-lecture, we introduce sequences, focusing in particular on: (i) examples of familiar sequences; (ii) defining a term; and (iii) identifying patterns in sequences.
