Parliamentary Law Making

In this course, Paul Evans (Former Parliamentary Clerk, House of Commons) discusses parliamentary law making. In the first module, we introduce parliamentary law. In the second module, we discuss influences on parliamentary law-making. In the third module, we turn to the formal legislative process, before looking at how agreement is secured between the two Houses in the fourth module. In the fifth module, we examine some further aspects of the law-making procedure in Parliament. In the sixth and final module, we evaluate the ways in which parliamentary law-making is influenced.

Parliamentary Law Making

In this module, we introduce the process of law making in Parliament, focusing in particular on (i) parliamentary sovereignty (ii) different kinds of law (iii) types of parliamentary law (iv) delegated legislation.
