Accomplice Liability

In this course, Professor John Child (University of Birmingham) explores accomplice liability. In the first module, we introduce varying forms of liability in criminal law. In the second module, we look at the actus reus of the offence, before turning to mens rea in the third module. In the fourth module, we discuss joint enterprise. Finally, in the fifth module, we look at the available defences to accomplice liability in common law.

Liability

In this module, we introduce forms of liability and multiple party offences, focusing in particular on (i) multiple party offences (ii) inchoate offences (iii) accomplice liability (iv) the roles different parties might play in a criminal enterprise (v) complicity in accomplice liability (vi) sentencing (vii) factual uncertainties concerning complicity.
