BIOGRAPHY

Henry French is a Professor of History at the University of Exeter. He specialises in the identity and composition of the ‘middle sort of people’ in provincial England 1620-1750. With this in mind, he has published widely, including The Social Topography of a Rural Community: Scenes of Labouring Life in Seventeenth-Century England.
