BIOGRAPHY

Professor Robert Bartlett is an Emeritus Professor of History at the University of St Andrews. He is a leading medievalist of English history and is particularly known for his work The Making of Europe: Conquest, Colonization and Cultural Change, 950-1350 (1993) which won the Wolfson History Prize in 1993. He specialises in studies of medieval frontiers and the cult of saints. Some of his best-known publications include, The Middle Ages and the Movies: Eight Key Films (2022), Blood Royal: Dynastic Politics in Medieval Europe (2020), and England Under the Norman and Angevin Kings (2000).
